The first week of class has gone pretty good. I really enjoyed reading the They Say, I Say book. It made a lot of sense to me. They presented information in a way that I had never thought of it before! One thing that I thought was helpful was that the authors told us to listen to what people are saying so that we don't interupt someone in the middle of their thoughts. Also, if you listen then you know what is going on and you don't just jump in a make a fool of yourself. That is always the worst thing you can do is to jump into a conversation when you don't know what is going on, and then people look at you like you are stupid.
I am also excited about starting to research topics for my paper. I wrote down some of the ideas that i thought of. The list so far includes: Eating disorders and the media influence on them, teenage depression, children and violent movies/videogames, high school cliques, why college is so expensive, what all being a dental hygienist involves. I still haven't read the Ballenger essay, but I am planning on reading it tonight or tomorrow, and then getting ready to take my pictures. I look forward to reading the story and doing the camera exercise!

Your blog looks good. I think you have some interesting topic ideas as well. I am particularly intersted in the media one because it seems that the "media" affects many layers of our life.
